How are Deferred Revenue projections calculated?
The monthly values show the recognized values per Line Item. Values are calculated by taking the Amount and dividing by the Covered Months. The values will start on the Start Date and be prorated if the day is past the first of the month. We add in an extra month at the end of the term to cover the balance between the prorated start month and the monthly value.
Output Deferred Revenue Template Metrics
Total Deferred Revenue
The total revenue that is still deferred. We calculate this by taking the total amount of deferred revenue of all line items and subtracting the total of all recognized monthly values.
Total Revenue Recognized
The total monthly recognized revenue of all line items. Calculated by taking the sum of all line items' monthly values.
Deferred Revenue Template Dimensions
Name
Name of the deferred revenue line item. Not used for calculations.
Customer
Name of the customer. Not used for calculations but can be used for grouping and filtering.
Start Date
Start date for when the deferred revenue will start being recognized. Used to calculate when the monthly revenue will start. If the Start Date is after the first of the month the monthly revenue will be prorated and an additional month will be added to the end of the term to cover the balance.
Amount
The total amount of the deferred revenue. Used to calculate the monthly values in conjunction with covered months. Also used to calculate the Total Deferred Revenue metric.
Covered Months
Time in months it will take to fully recognize the revenue for the line item.
Type
Free form. Not used for calculations but can be used for grouping and filtering.
