Workbooks and Blocks can be exported out of Basis to be manipulated offline.

How to Download a Workbook

Basis lets you grab exactly what you need - be it fields, analysis, groupings, or accounts. It's super simple: what you see on your screen is what you'll get in your download.

Here's how you do it:

  • Head over to the Workbook you want to download.

  • Set it up just how you like – pick your columns, and groupings, and expand the groupings you want to export about.

  • Hit the 'Download' button, and voilà! You're downloading a CSV file.

What's in Your Workbook CSV Download?

Your CSV file is a twin of what you set up in your Workbook. So, no surprises there!

How to Download Data from a Block

Blocks in Basis are your go-to for modeling, not really for reporting. If you need to manually tweak some values in your Actuals for a sub-model, exporting a Block is your friend.

Grabbing Input Table Data from a Block

Here's how you do it:

  • Go to your chosen Block.

  • Look for the '...' menu, and click 'Download CSV'.

  • That's it! You're downloading the Input Table.

What's in Your Block CSV Download?

Your download will mirror the Input Table section of your Block. Neat!

How to Download a Pre-filled Template of a Block

When downloading from a Block, you've got another cool option: Download Template.

This is different from the raw Input Table export from above. It gives you a pre-filled, editable version of the table – without any of our AI-generated, non-editable columns. Handy for when you want to make some changes offline and then zip them back into Basis.

💡 Tip: Choose this option for a download-edit-reimport routine with your Block!

FAQ

Can I Download Assumptions and Output Tables from a Block?

No, you can't directly download assumptions or outputs from Blocks. But don't worry, there's a workaround.

Blocks are just for setting up and running your models. To download the information you need, like assumptions and outputs, you can easily create a report in a Workbook.

It's like making a summary report that you can save and look at any time. If you're not sure how to do this, we have some easy-to-follow instructions available – just click on the link here and it'll show you the steps.
